PWOC has kicked off at the chapel - 9:30 every Thursday morning

MOPS has begun in a new location - 1st and 3rd Tuesday mornings also at the chapel

Starting in October, we'll have our 2nd Saturday Scrap Days here at the Villa

And of course our Friday night potluck and bible study are still happening each week

Five families took advantage of the beautiful June weather and spent the day in Seville at the Plaza de Espana and the Parque Maria Luisa. We made sure the kids were exhausted (we were outnumbered 2 to 1) before we drove to TGIFridays for an early dinner and the drive home! Fun day!

Santos Family - URGENT- Jeannette's brother Jeff was hospitalized Sunday with internal bleeding, and was removed from the case study that gave him free chemo. Pray for the bleeding to stop, for wisdom in making decisions, and for the hearts of the family to rest in Christ's sufficiency and love.
- Pray also for Jeannette's father who was also hospitalized last week w/ very high blood sugar count; Pray for Rey's next set of orders

Holdahl Family - Moving to Norfolk - pray for Tiffany traveling with the kids Tuesday, and for Matt following next week. Pray that the travel is smooth and the children are sleepy!

**Ladies, the third Saturday of each month is hereby named Scrapbooking Day! The Villa is open from 10am-10pm for all scrappers (invite your friends!) to come and enjoy food and fellowship and work on those books. It is, of course, free - just bring a snack or dish to share, and any supplies you may want to get rid of or trade out at our Swap Stack.
(Don't scrap? Bring any other craft or project and come join the fun!)

**Shepherding a Child's Heart is the new DVD Bible study held on Sunday afternoons. It is an excellent Scripture-based parenting study for new and veteran parents alike. Best if both spouses can come, but we understand if circumstances dictate otherwise. (Single? Don't have kids yet? It's still a great study to be equipped with the Word for the future!)
Cost is 5 euros for a listening guide, plus an optional (but highly recommended) $10 for the book on which the study is based.
(Another book by the same author, Instructing a Child's Heart, will also be available for $10, along with Wise Words for Moms for $4. These resources support the material in the study, but are not covered by it.)

**Our Friday night dinner and study will continue, with a new program for school-age kiddos during the study (preschoolers will have play-time). The program, called "Adventures in Theology" from Insight for Living (the radio ministry of Chuck Swindoll), features an audio story followed by age-appropriate discussion.

This month kicks off both a new year and a new direction for Victory Villa. In the past few years of transiton here, the Villa has somewhat lost its identity as a "home-away-from-home for the military community", the purpose of Cadence Int'l. It is our prayer and vision to "re-brand" the Villa to better reflect that purpose! We've got some ideas for greater involvment in the military community, as well as some "media" ideas (i.e. getting a banner made for the front fence, try to change our listing in the local yellow pages from an "english-speaking church" to a military ministry).

Will you pray with us that the Lord will lead us in creativity and perseverence? Also, we'd love your ideas of how to get the Villa ingrained in military life here in Rota!

FBC Rota swims to the Villa

Two weeks ago, upon arriving at church for Sunday school, FBC families discovered the church and outbuildings were all flooded from Tropical Storm Vince! Lanny asked some deacons (all with pant legs rolled up and barefoot with brooms and mops!) if they'd like to move services to the Villa for the day. The answer was YES of course, and so we came back home, followed by a car full of kids who had Sunday school in the living room. We moved tables, set up chairs and brewed lots of coffee!

It all worked out wonderfully, and we Praise God for the cozy day we all had as we worshipped together. Most people stayed for lunch, so Cleveland went on a commisary run for more cheese and bread for Grilled Cheese sandwiches, and other Villa regulars just took over cooking and making people feel at home. Folks who had never been to the Villa were able to see what our Villa family was like. We praise the Lord for you guys!

Remember, next Friday, October 31, the Villa will not have dinner and Bible Study, since most of us will be participating in the FBC Fall Festival. That means no potluck next week.

However, since we can't go a whole two months without Jeannette and May's Filipino food, we've decided to bump it to the next week, November 7. To add to this reasoning, the last Friday of November is Thanksgiving Leftover Day, so no traditional potluck there either, and there's the possibility of going three whole months without lumpia and noodles. Enough said?

Labor Day

We had a wonderfully full day last Monday, as all 3 grills were fired up and packed with meat for our Labor Day cook-out! We were blessed with abundant food, friends, and fellowship (the required 3 F's for any Christian gathering). If you walked in, you heard the sounds of 3 languages, a couple dozen kids, and lovely piano-plunking. Later, you may have heard the guitar strumming and shouts from the Mexican Train table. You smelled salsas, potato salads and tortillas, dogs, brats, burgers, and curry chicken. You ate all of the above, plus enough dessert to sink a small ship. You stayed till dark and had a great time (we hope!)!
